![]() The "normal" way might be the "easierst" but the other ones should be still viable for a character that is not the "intended" one for that passage. They do not try to use skills they do NOT have to try and solve a problem.Īs long as content is gated there needs to be a bigger and maybe more creative/absurd variety to access it. But humans do use the skills they have to overcome a problem. The Skill checks try to emulate a world where we are no god but mere humans. Why cant my hybrid mercenary take over a raider group after killing their leader without effort and passing a mediocre check? It always unnaturally boils down to us and us alone and enforces that we do everything on our own: But for some concept that does not make much sense. But why cant be have our own fellowship as the chosen one? We have the chance to throw some idiots into the arch for we are the super persuader. In an RPG a "legendary" Diplomat could act like Miltiades that got his title rather easy and hire his own enforcer for money and ensure his loyalty with charisma: Now we got a henchman that is capable to dive and swim some metres and loot the stuff for me. They arbitrarily require you to spend points to access the content. In fact, some of the Skill Checks are Gates, nothing else. They should not spend their points at all until confronted with a situation they need a check for and reload to now spend the SP to the required level. Originally posted by urartu:And hybrids do not require metagaming necessarily, just they should not divide their skillpoints too much. Spending Points naturally is sometimes just a gamble for I cant use my skills freely for other ways to approach a quest but am dependant on the solutions I am presented and that might work or not. When I hit a check I do not pass I reload and spend points into that if it suits my charakter. On my charakters I do not even spend my points regularly and keep a huge reservoir pool. They try to show us that hybrids are fiably possible but in the end they are meta gaming and planned ahead. ![]() ![]() To be frank: The hybrid videos are nothing else. "What content do I want to see and what are the hard-skill-checks I have to pass for that." "What suits a charakter of that background in this interpretation." The skill checks are hidden to prevent meta-gaming but that is what happens. But instead of failing and living through the adventure on another route you simply do not take that route at all. The noble goal of the current system is to create a RPG world where a charakter can fail. That is the shadowy side of the medal and I do absolutly agree with you more or less. You go into a bar brawl, but need 7 STR to win You go in, but drinking vodka at a bar takes 7 CON to stay on your feet You have opened a night club at Maadoran, "Arena Babes" What is bad design choice, and is really bugging, is limiting the actual ACCESS somewhere, instead of altering WAYS and OUTCOMES, when it comes down to it. Right now, every faction you replay already adds enough difference in the gameworld, I don't think limiting every well adventure like that is adding anything to it, except annoyance and frustration during the game world exploration. You still refuse to see that everyone end up playing 12 dex loremasters just to enjoy that tiny bit more of content in ONE playthough :)))) Overall, I'd suggest to play with your uber build for a while to understand the system better, then make a more flexible build, once you know what you're doing and what to expect.Well, this is where all the social characters get shafted. Perception is a handy stat that will boost your THC and help in non-combat situations. Since you aren't struggling, you can lower the stats a bit. I'd recommend it only to beginners who are struggling and need all the combat bonuses they can get. Is having a pure melee tank going to gimp me from aspects of the game really hard? Should I rebalance my stats in a more efficient way? Any tips on the melee side of the house would be greatly appreciated. I noticed that I can survive the beginning fights pretty well, my question is middle/end game. I have made a pure merc with 10, 10, 8, 4, 4, 4.
